A Story of Faith, Restoration, and Mission

Ronald Mena Salazar serves the Lord with a deep conviction that the gospel changes lives—even in the everyday moments of family, community, and service.

Originally from Palmares, Alajuela, Costa Rica, Ronald now serves full-time in ministry with Manna. Whether teaching English classes through the Bible, visiting homes, or helping meet practical needs in the community, his ministry is deeply relational and rooted in sharing the love of Christ.

A Faith That Began With Questions and Grace

Ronald’s journey of faith began through exposure to the story of Jesus. His family’s first introduction to Christianity came through the Catholic Church, where seeds of faith were planted early on. Later, watching a film about the life of Jesus deeply impacted him.

Seeing Christ—a man without sin—suffer mistreatment and sacrifice Himself for humanity stirred something deep in Ronald’s heart. God began drawing him toward a deeper understanding of His love and grace.

Over time, Ronald also witnessed the faithful example of missionaries serving in nearby communities. Their dedication and willingness to serve others helped strengthen the calling God had already begun placing on his heart.

Living Out the Great Commission

For Ronald, the mission is simple and clear: obey the words of Jesus to “go and preach the gospel to every creature.”

Much of his ministry happens through everyday interactions. Ronald and his family visit homes, teach Bible-centered classes, and build relationships within the community. One unique part of their ministry is teaching English using Scripture as the foundation, combining practical learning with opportunities to share the gospel.

They also serve alongside Bernardita, an elderly woman who opens her home to people struggling with addiction and homelessness. Through meals, encouragement, and consistent presence, they seek to demonstrate the compassion of Christ in tangible ways.

In addition, Ronald is helping establish a church in the community, praying for a local body of believers that will continue growing and serving for years to come.

Encouraged by Transformation

There have been many moments throughout ministry that have strengthened Ronald’s faith—miracles, testimonies, victories, and prayers answered. But what moves him most deeply is witnessing genuine repentance.

For Ronald, few things compare to seeing someone broken before the Lord, responding with sincere emotion and a true desire for change. Those moments serve as reminders that God is still transforming hearts every day.

Strength for the Battle

Ronald’s favorite and most-read book is the Bible, which continually encourages and strengthens him in ministry.

One passage that especially stands out to him is Joshua 5:13–15, where Joshua encounters the man with the drawn sword before battle. To Ronald, the story is a powerful reminder that God stands with His people in spiritual battles and that believers are never alone when they trust in Him.

Another verse that holds special meaning is Joshua 1:9:

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

This verse reminds Ronald that God’s presence remains constant in every trial, challenge, and season of ministry.

Serving Together

One of the beautiful parts of Ronald’s story is that ministry is truly a family calling. Together, they continue opening doors for conversations, discipleship, and community care throughout Costa Rica.

Through faithful service, home visits, teaching, and hospitality, Ronald and his family are helping build spaces where people encounter both the truth of the gospel and the compassion of Christ.

Thank you Ronald for your faithfulness, servant heart, and dedication to sharing the gospel throughout Costa Rica. We are grateful for the way you continue to love and serve your community with compassion and hope.
