Elido’s Ministry of Giving Back
Enelsido (Elido) Méndez Núñez’s story is marked by honesty, perseverance, and God’s mercy.
Born and raised in Santiago de los Caballeros, Dominican Republic, Elido was shaped by hardship. He comes from a poor family, and his childhood was deeply affected by parents struggling with alcohol. Those early years were filled with hard questions directed toward God. Yet, even in the midst of confusion and pain, God was not distant. In His mercy, He found ways to respond, revealing His love and compassion for Elido in the midst of those hardships.
A Life Shaped by Discipleship
Today, Elido serves as part of the leadership team in the Dominican Republic, carrying significant responsibility across multiple communities. He helps oversee the work in Río San Juan and Bobita, including the Bobita camp area and the development center in Río San Juan. He also provides ongoing support and follow-up for the team led by Jonatan, as well as for Yesenia and Epifanio.
In Santiago, Elido works closely with Jeff and Vicki, teaching and discipling staff members. His ministry is rooted not only in leadership, but in walking alongside others—encouraging, equipping, and building unity within the team.
Called to Serve and Multiply
Elido’s motivation for missions is simple but deeply Biblical: God has called His people to be disciples and to make disciples. Through service, mission work becomes a way to visibly demonstrate the love of God. For Elido, ministry is about freely giving what he himself has received by grace.
His goals reflect this calling—to be a disciple, to make disciples, and to train and develop leaders. Beyond individual growth, his vision for the community is to reveal the Kingdom of God through service, love, grace, and mercy. This expression of faith goes beyond words on a page; it is lived out through action, presence, and compassion.
Grounded in the Word
Elido finds joy in reading, teaching, and spending time with people. His favorite book is the Bible, which continually reminds him of who God is, the reality of human sin, and the depth of God’s mercy. Scripture gives him hope and direction, shaping both his faith and his ministry.
Among the many passages that speak to him, the life of Christ stands out most. Jesus’ time on earth reveals the love of God and provides practical guidance for resisting temptation and living as children of God.
His anchor verse is James 1:12:
“Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.”
This verse serves as a reminder that endurance matters and that eternal life is promised to those who remain faithful.
Seeing the Kingdom at Work
Some of the most impactful moments in Elido’s ministry come through direct contact with people in need—moments when service becomes tangible and love takes form. These encounters continually reaffirm his calling.
Receiving visiting teams is another source of encouragement. For Elido, teams embody Christ’s call to sacrifice and serve. Working alongside them strengthens the work of the Kingdom, creates intentional time within communities, and opens doors for lasting relationships with those connected to Manna.
Thank you Elido Méndez Núñez—for your faithfulness, servant leadership, and commitment to making disciples. We are grateful to serve alongside you and to witness the love of Christ lived out through your ministry.
